About juudo

Accounting experience. A practical approach to software.

My background brings together accounting and tax experience, postgraduate study in computer science, and hands-on software development. Through juudo, I help businesses work through practical problems with their websites, applications and existing systems.

I’m particularly interested in the gap between how a business works and what its software allows people to do — and helping turn that gap into clear requirements for improvement.

Business & technical background

Understanding the work behind the requirements

My accounting experience includes reconciliations, journal entries, month- and year-end work, and resolving queries across departments. That experience helps me ask questions about where figures come from, how information is checked and what people need from a report.

My technical background helps me connect those questions to data, application behaviour and development decisions.

When the system leaves extra work for your team

You may know exactly where the work gets frustrating, without knowing what needs to change technically.

How the work starts

From a working problem to a clear brief

You don’t need a technical specification to start a conversation. We can begin with your current process, a recurring issue or an example of the result you need.

  1. Understand the process

Establish who does what, which tools are involved and where the difficulty occurs.

  2. Clarify the requirements

Identify data sources, business rules, exceptions and the desired result.

  3. Agree a practical next step

Consider a process change, existing feature, integration or custom development, taking access and technical constraints into account.

  4. Check the result

Agree examples and acceptance criteria so the people using the system can assess the improvement.

Depending on the project, juudo can help implement an agreed improvement or prepare a clear brief for your existing development team.

Tell me what your team is working around

If your team relies on manual steps to make its systems work, tell me about the process and where it gets difficult. We can discuss whether juudo is a suitable fit.
